Intrapreneurship and Succession Are Related Concepts

 |

Intrapreneurship is an exciting alternative to traditional succession planning. The young generation develop their own venture but within the ecosystem of the family’s existing business operations.

At BFF we love seeing young intrapreneurs in a mentoring relationship with their parents or other relatives. Like Chanel Alepin, who participated in our Intrapreneurial Initiative, whose mentor was her father, François Alepin.

François founded a law firm in 1978. Recently Chanel has developed a new service called Bras Droit that offers unlimited legal support and quick access to advice at a fixed annual rate.

We talked with Chanel about her views on intrapreneurship:

Corporate benefits of intrapreneurship:

For Bras Droit, we launched a pilot project with 10 clients of the family law firm. We would not have had access to these 10 clients without intrapreneurship.

Personal benefits of intrapreneurship:

Intrapreneurship helps to build confidence in one’s abilities and entrepreneurial skills. It does not create entrepreneurs, it reveals them.

Advice for potential intrapreneurs:

If you have an idea that you are incubating, and you want to bring it to life, there is no better place than the Intrapreneurial Initiative, especially for family businesses.
