How Can You Innovate Within the Family Business?

The advice I would give is surround yourself by people outside the company. Surround yourself by a number of partners, collaborators, find yourself a mentor that’s not someone in your family, I think could have saved so many headaches. I really regret not having a larger circle around me when I started, which is normal, you’re coming out of school and you don’t have a huge network of people around from a professional point of view, but if I could go back in time I would find that network. A network that I could bounce ideas off of, but that can also have conversations with my father or other decision-makers in the company that would reinforce my point of view or my arguments or my strategies, initiatives, strategic initiatives.
