Taking the Family Business in New Directions

Our family has been in hearing healthcare since the early 60s. So, by osmosis, I have been in this industry all my life. My parents were mostly on the intervention side for people who have already lost their hearing. When I joined the family business, I discovered that young people were losing their hearing, yet there had been very little technology developed and very little innovation in that space. So, I decided to help my mother exit from her medical practice and go into the technology of developing products that allows workers to be protected and communicate at all times, which was one of the big challenges. The third aspect is monitoring. So, this is a internetted things, connected objects. This is the assurance that we can provide the data to the worker, that he is additively protected and also to their employers doing that they are actually doing a great job. Our whole vision is to use this technology to prevent hearing loss, prevent accidents, which now are about 12% of accidents are caused by people’s inability to hear, which makes sense, you can’t hear the warning signals, you already have some degree of hearing loss, so it is very challenging. You feel very insecure, very stressed about that and that causes accidents, which costs $24 billion a year to manage in the United States, alone. So our technology, which is the passion, the original mission came from my parents and when I took over that business and turned it into a technology company, took it to the next level, and now we are launching our latest product. I think we are going to have some good success.
