Learning and Evolving Together as an Entrepreneurial Family

Hello everyone. Hope all of you are safe and healthy. We are all going through ambiguous and challenging times this pandemic has caused much pain the world over and we have all been a part of this in some way or the other I belong to the GMR family in India and our core business is centered around aviation. Aviation industry the world over has been negatively impacted due to the ongoing pandemic we have witnessed unprecedented scenarios like an airport shutting operations for a long period of time during the lockdown this brought in much uncertainty for the business and family As a family we have a very well defined family purpose which is living together or togetherness and this is nurtured by love understanding acceptance being supported learning from each other evolving together and creating a collaborative environment for business and family during these times all these aspects of the family were very critical and helped in facing the business challenges we as a family believe in living together learning growing and evolving together this helped us in making quick decisions to re strategize the business to optimize our resources and to upskill ourselves in what's new in technology it gave us an opportunity to reflect upon ourselves as well as business which led to an out of the box thinking and new learnings personally I believed the family business has 2 aspects to it which is the being and the doing the being which is a softer site is developed within a family through a family purpose whereas the business which is the harder side is developed through a business vision I feel it is very important to have a very clear well laid out family purpose that is lived in spirit and action and which evolves with time such a family purpose becomes a testament for any business to grow in perpetuity
