Importance of Establishing the Right Work Environment

As the next generation in a family business, it is important to be able to share thoughts and new ideas in the workplace. Developing relationships with both family and non-family members is equally important and will create new opportunities to do so.

I’m much more comfortable about giving ideas. I feel like if my boss wasn’t my dad, I might hesitate a little more, because, you know, I don’t want to be out of place. But we’ve developed a relationship at work that allows me to step up, disagree, and you know, explain my point. It’s important out of family business to be like that as well, but it was just a quicker process for me let’s say. My knowledge and my work ethic can benefit someone else. It’s not just my father saying that yeah, my son knows what he’s doing. I think, you know, when someone else tells you that you seem like you know what you’re doing, you have a lot more confidence. Plus my experience that I will gain from their doing will definitely benefit my dad and his company.
