David Bentall (9) Philippe and Nan-B de Gaspe Beaubien are pioneers in this field and in family business, and they teach about the importance of boards of directors and they teach the importance of owner’s groups meeting together, and family councils. But you know how they started? They started having two years of communication skills training for their family. That’s the foundation of it all. And so if I was to have one word for families, it would be don’t think about communication skills, think about learning how to listen to one another, because if we listen deeply, empathetically, then we can build something for the future.
